Overview
Reshare Defaults is a powerful automation tool for vendors and resellers who purchase products from other vendors and resell them to their buyers. Instead of manually calculating markup and lead times for every reshared product, you define rules that automatically apply consistent pricing and delivery adjustments based on product characteristics.
This is especially useful when you:
Resell products from multiple vendors - Apply different markups per vendor
Source from various suppliers - Use different strategies for different manufacturers
Have seasonal pricing strategies - Adjust markups based on product category or price range
Manage complex lead times - Add buffer days based on product type
Maintain consistent margins - Ensure all reshared products meet your profit targets
What happens in the system
When you reshare a product and Reshare Defaults are configured:
Rules are evaluated in order - The first matching rule applies (order matters, see "Reordering Rules" below)
Markup is applied automatically - The matched rule's markup is applied to the vendor's cost
Lead time is adjusted - Additional days are added to the product's ETA if specified
Multiple rules can match - Only the first matching rule is applied (due to rule priority)
Products can be reshared without a matching rule - The system allows resharing even if no rule matches; you'll set pricing manually
Rules apply immediately - Creating or updating a rule takes effect on newly reshared products
Matching Logic
Rules are evaluated top-to-bottom. When a product is reshared:
System checks rule #1 filters against the reshared product
If all filters match, that rule is applied and stops checking
If filters don't match, move to rule #2
Continue until a match is found or all rules are checked
If no rule matches, reshare the product without defaults
Filter matching: A product must match ALL active filters in a rule to trigger that rule. It's an AND operation:
Category: Electronics AND Manufacturer: Acme AND Price: $100-$500 → applies if product matches all three
What does NOT happen
Deleting a rule does NOT affect existing reshares - Only newly reshared products are affected
Rules do NOT auto-update existing prices - They only apply when you reshare a product
Rules do NOT override manual pricing - If you set a custom price after resharing, the rule doesn't reapply
Disabling a rule does NOT remove its effects - It just prevents new reshares from using that rule
Creating a rule does NOT reshare past products - You must manually reshare products to get the defaults
Filter changes apply only to future reshares - Existing reshares keep their original prices
Prerequisites
Vendor or Reseller role - Must have the ability to reshare products
At least one vendor product available - Need products to reshare
Edit permissions on Reshare Defaults - Typically Super Admin or Manager role
Accessing Reshare Defaults
Click your profile icon in the bottom left
Click Settings
In the left sidebar, look for the Resharing tab
Click Reshare Defaults (or click the Resharing tab if Reshare Defaults appears as a section)
Rules Table Overview
The main Reshare Defaults view shows all your configured rules in a table.
Table Columns
Column | Description |
# | Rule priority number (1 = highest priority, evaluated first) |
Name | Your custom rule name (e.g., "High-end electronics from Vendor A") |

Creating a New Rule
Step 1: Click "Add Rule"
Click the Add Rule button at the top of the Reshare Defaults view.
The Rule Editor modal opens.
Step 2: Enter Rule Name
Give your rule a descriptive name that explains what products it targets.
Good naming examples:
"High-value electronics from Vendor A"
"Overstock clearance items"
"Bulk office supplies"
"Premium manufacturer items >$500"
"Summer seasonal products"
Step 3: Configure Filter Criteria
Filter criteria determine which products this rule applies to. Click on filter badges to configure.
Available filter types:
Filter | What it matches | Example |
Category | Product's universal category | Electronics > Laptops |
Vendors | Which vendor the product comes from | Acme Corp, TechSupply Inc |
Manufacturers | Product manufacturer | Dell, HP, Lenovo |
Conditions | Product condition (new, refurbished, etc.) | New, Refurbished |
Packaging | Original packaging status | Original Box, Bulk |
Warranties | Warranty type included | Full Warranty, No Warranty |
Returns | Return policy | 30 Days, No Returns |
Locations | Warehouse or storage location | Warehouse 1, Back Stock |
Tags | Custom tags you've assigned | New Arrivals, Clearance |
Price Range | Product cost price (min-max) | $100 - $500 |
Example: Creating a Category Filter
Click the Category filter badge
A category tree picker appears
Search for categories by typing (e.g., "laptops")
Expand categories by clicking the arrow
Check categories to include them in the filter
Click Apply
Example: Creating a Multi-Select Filter
Click the Vendors filter badge
A list of available vendors appears with product counts
Search by typing vendor name
Check vendors to include in the filter
Click Apply
Example: Creating a Price Range Filter
Click the Price Range filter badge
Enter minimum price (or leave blank for no minimum)
Enter maximum price (or leave blank for no maximum)
Click Done
No filters = all products: If you don't configure any filters, this rule matches ALL products (except those matched by higher-priority rules).
Step 4: Configure Markup Settings
Choose how to markup the vendor's price when resharing.
Markup Type Options
Percentage Markup
Adds a percentage on top of the vendor's cost
Use for: Consistent margin strategies
Example: If vendor charges $100 and you set +25%, buyer sees $125
Markup Type: Percentage Markup Value: 25 Formula: Vendor Price × (1 + 25%)
Absolute Markup
Adds a fixed dollar amount to the vendor's cost
Use for: Fixed profit per item regardless of cost
Example: If vendor charges $100 and you set +$15, buyer sees $115
Markup Type: Absolute ($) Markup Value: 15 Formula: Vendor Price + $15
No Markup
Resell at the exact vendor's price
Use for: Loss-leader products, competitive positioning, bulk deals
Example: If vendor charges $100, buyer sees $100
Markup Type: No Markup Markup Value: (disabled) Formula: Vendor Price (no change)
Step 5: Configure Lead Time Offset
Add extra days to account for your processing time, handling, or shipping preparation.
Enter 0 or leave blank: Use the vendor's lead time as-is
Enter positive number: Add those days to the vendor's lead time
Example: If vendor says 5 days and you set offset +2, your ETA becomes 7 days
Use cases:
Handle receiving and quality inspection: +1-2 days
Manage high-volume periods: +3-5 days
Account for shipping to buyers: +1-3 days
Build in safety buffer: +1 day
Step 6: Review and Save
The complete rule is shown before saving.
Click Create to save the rule. A success message appears:
Editing an Existing Rule
Find the rule in the table
Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the Actions column
Click Edit
The Rule Editor opens with the rule's current settings
Make your changes
Click Save
Note: Any changes apply only to newly reshared products, not existing ones.
Using Rule Priority (Reordering)
Rules are evaluated in order from top to bottom. The first rule that matches applies, and evaluation stops.
Why Rule Order Matters
Rule 1: Category = Laptops | Markup = +20% Rule 2: Manufacturer = Dell | Markup = +15% Rule 3: Category = Electronics | Markup = +10% Resharing a Dell laptop: → Matches Rule 1 (Category = Laptops) → Apply +20% ✓ STOP → Rule 2 and Rule 3 are not evaluated
vs.
Rule 1: Manufacturer = Dell | Markup = +15% Rule 2: Category = Laptops | Markup = +20% Rule 3: Category = Electronics | Markup = +10% Resharing a Dell laptop: → Matches Rule 1 (Manufacturer = Dell) → Apply +15% ✓ STOP → Rule 2 and Rule 3 are not evaluated
Reordering Rules
In the rules table, click and hold the grab handle (≡) on the left of a rule
Drag the rule to its new position
Release to drop it
A success message confirms the new order
Strategy tips:
Put most specific rules first (e.g., "Vendor A + Category X")
Put general rules last (e.g., "All electronics")
Test rule order by resharing test products
Duplicating a Rule
Quickly create a similar rule based on an existing one.
Find the rule you want to duplicate
Click the three-dot menu (⋮)
Click Duplicate
A new rule appears with "(Copy)" appended to the name
The new rule is disabled by default to prevent conflicts
Edit the rule to customize it
Enable it when ready
Use case: You have a "Vendor A - Laptops - +20% markup" rule and want to create a similar rule for Vendor B. Duplicate and change the vendor filter.
Toggling Rules On/Off
Control whether a rule is active without deleting it.
Find the rule in the table
Toggle the Enabled switch on the right
When on: The rule is evaluated when resharing products
When off: The rule is skipped (behaves as if it doesn't exist)
Use cases:
Temporarily disable seasonal markup rules
Test a new rule before enabling it
Archive rules you might use later
Deleting a Rule
Permanently remove a rule.
Find the rule you want to delete
Click the three-dot menu (⋮)
Click Delete
A confirmation dialog appears
Click Delete to confirm
Important: Deleting a rule does NOT affect products you've already reshared. It only stops the rule from applying to future reshares.
Searching Rules
Find rules quickly using the search box.
Type in the search field
Results are filtered by:
Rule name
Filter values (category, vendor, manufacturer names)
Clear search to see all rules
Pagination
If you have many rules, they're shown 20 per page.
Previous/Next: Navigate between pages
Page indicator: Shows current page (e.g., "Page 1 of 3")
Best Practices for Reshare Defaults
Rule Design Principles
Be specific with filters - More specific rules first, general rules last
Use consistent naming - Names should clearly describe what the rule targets
Test new rules - Reshare a test product to verify the rule works
Document your strategy - Make notes about why each rule exists
Monitor markups over time - Check that your margins are meeting targets
Markup Strategy Examples
Scenario 1: Simple percentage across the board
Rule: All Products Filter: (no filters) Markup: +25% Lead Time: 0 days
Scenario 2: Different markups by vendor
Rule 1: Premium Vendor A Filter: Vendor = Vendor A Markup: +20% (they're competitive) Lead Time: 0 days Rule 2: Budget Vendor B Filter: Vendor = Vendor B Markup: +30% (lower costs, need more margin) Lead Time: +1 day (slower shipping) Rule 3: Default Markup (catch-all) Filter: (no filters) Markup: +25% Lead Time: 0 days
Scenario 3: Category-based pricing
Rule 1: High-end Electronics Filter: Category = Electronics > Premium Markup: +15% (price-sensitive buyers) Lead Time: +1 day Rule 2: Standard Electronics Filter: Category = Electronics > Standard Markup: +25% Lead Time: 0 days Rule 3: Accessories Filter: Category = Electronics > Accessories Markup: +35% (higher margin on accessories) Lead Time: 0 days
Scenario 4: Seasonal adjustments
Rule 1: Summer Clearance Filter: Tags = "Summer Clearance" Markup: +10% (aggressive pricing to move inventory) Lead Time: 0 days Rule 2: Limited Edition Products Filter: Tags = "Limited Edition" Markup: +50% (scarcity justifies higher markup) Lead Time: 0 days Rule 3: Regular Products Filter: (no filters) Markup: +25% Lead Time: 0 days
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Overlapping rules without clear priority
❌ Rule 1: Category = Electronics, Markup +20%
❌ Rule 2: Vendor = Acme, Markup +25%
✅ Put the more specific rule first (Vendor = Acme)
Forgetting to enable rules after creating them
❌ Create rule, leave disabled by accident
✅ Always verify "Enabled" is toggled on
Setting markup too high and losing competitiveness
❌ Markup +50% on commodity items
✅ Research competitor pricing before setting markups
Not adjusting lead times for actual processing time
❌ Set 0 day offset even though you take 2 days to process
✅ Accurately reflect your actual ETA to buyers
Creating too many rules without cleanup
❌ Accumulate 50+ rules over time
✅ Periodically delete unused, disabled, or outdated rules
Common Issues
Issue: Rule doesn't apply to expected products
Symptom: I created a rule but resharing a product doesn't use it.
Possible causes:
Rule is disabled - Check the Enabled toggle
Rule doesn't match the product - Review filter criteria
Another rule matched first - Check rule order (higher rules take priority)
Rule was created after resharing - Rules only apply to new reshares
Solution:
Enable the rule if it's disabled
Edit the rule and verify all filters match your test product
Reorder rules if a more specific rule should match instead
Delete and recreate the product reshare to apply the rule
Issue: Markup amounts seem wrong
Symptom: Reshared price is higher or lower than expected.
Debug steps:
Check if the rule matched (look at product details when resharing)
Verify markup type (percentage vs. absolute)
Calculate expected price manually:
Percentage: Vendor Price × (1 + Markup%)
Absolute: Vendor Price + Markup$
Check if other systems are also applying markups (e.g., pricelist overrides)
Solution:
If calculation is correct, the rule is working as intended
Adjust markup value if the percentage/absolute amount is incorrect
Verify no other system is overriding the reshare price
Issue: Can't find the right category for a filter
Symptom: I'm looking for a category but can't find it in the tree.
Solution:
Try searching instead of browsing (type partial names)
Categories are hierarchical - expand parent categories first
Some products may not be categorized in the exact category you expect
Contact support if a critical category appears to be missing
Issue: Too many rules, hard to manage
Symptom: I have 30+ rules and it's becoming confusing.
Solution:
Delete obsolete rules - Remove old seasonal rules you no longer use
Consolidate similar rules - If you have three vendor rules with identical settings, consider combining them into one rule with multiple vendors
Document your rules - Add clear names and keep notes about strategy
Archive old rules - Disable rules you might need later instead of deleting them
